Big thanks for decades of community service

Between them Robert Fooks, Paul Rapke and Joan Hayes have been serving the Bayside community for an amazing 85 years.

Robert has been a beloved School Crossing Supervisor since 2001.

Most of Robert’s years of service were at St Finbar’s looking after the students and parents at one of Bayside’s busiest crossings which intersects with Nepean Highway.

Robert has been described by colleagues as a cherished supervisor.

Paul has been a School Crossing Supervisor for 25 years, starting at Beaumaris Secondary on Reserve Road.

Three and a half years later he moved to St Joan of Arc on Dendy Street, Brighton and has been there since.

Paul is well known and loved for being courteous, cooperative, and hardworking.

Joan, a Community Care Worker, has four decades of community care under her belt and has improved the lives of hundreds of older residents living at home over those 40 years.

Joan started off providing domestic assistance for Brighton Council Aged and Disability but gradually moved into provision of all service types including showering assistance, shopping assistance, supporting the carers of frail older residents to have a break, socialization visits to those isolated at home and transport to appointments.

Joan’s philosophy has always been to ensure each client she sees feels better and happier by the time she leaves, no matter what the circumstances.

Joan, Robert and Paul’s dedication and lengthy community service were recognized at a special service of thanks at Bayside City Council.
