Police have charged six people during a high-visibility operation in the state’s north.
Yesterday (Thursday 10 September 2026), officers attached to Manning Great Lakes Police District – assisted by Traffic and Highway Patrol Command and the Dog Unit – saturated the Taree area under Operation Supress targeting a suppression in crime and anti-social behaviour including pushbike offences.
As a result of the operation, police arrested and charged six people for offences relating to family and domestic violence, traffic, knives and breach of bail.
Officers also issued seven infringement notices for not wear helmet, one infringement notice for ride bicycle use mobile phone and seven warnings to youths for not wear helmet.
Incidents of note include,
- About 12.40pm yesterday, police attended a house on Marjorie Street, Taree, in relation to a warrant enquiry. When officers were speaking to an occupant of the house, a 30-year-old man allegedly ran out the rear door. After a lengthy foot pursuit, the man was arrested nearby. He was taken to Taree Police Station where four outstanding warrants were executed, and he was also charged with never licenced person drive vehicle on road – prior offence. He was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 1 today (Friday 11 September 2026).
- About 3pm yesterday, police stopped a 27-year-old man, who was acting in a suspicious manner, at a shopping centre on Manning Street, Taree. The man was searched and officers allegedly located and seized a knife and items of clothing with tags attached. The man was arrested and taken to Taree Police Station and charged with custody of a knife in a public place, goods in personal custody suspected of being stolen and breach of bail. He was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 1 today (Friday 11 September 2026).
Further operations are expected to be deployed in the future.
