Bluff Knoll Rescue

About 6.20pm yesterday, Saturday 2 September 2023, police were called and advised four males had walked up Bluff Knoll, but due to weather conditions were unable to walk back down.
Due to lack of daylight and the bad weather it was unsafe for a rescue at that time. The group advised police they had food, water and warm clothing.
About 6.40am this morning, Sunday 3 September 2023, police were advised that two members of the group were unable to walk down to safety and it was now snowing.
Due to rain and strong winds an air rescue was not possible this morning and police from Gnowangerup, Tembellup and Albany are working with DBCA Parks and Wildlife Service Rangers, DFES State Emergency Service volunteers and St John WA volunteers to reach the group today to rescue them.
The weather will continue to be monitored, and air assets will be on standby to deploy if a safe opportunity is identified.
