BOM issues warning for possible minor flooding

The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) has issued a severe weather warning for heavy rainfall for the Northern Rivers this evening and tomorrow (Thursday 24 February).

A flood watch has also been issued for possible flooding from late today in some catchments in the Northern Rivers including the Brunswick River and Marshalls Creek catchments.

The BOM is warning there could be a chance of flash flooding in some areas.

Byron Shire residents are reminded to regularly check the Byron Shire Emergency Dashboard website for the most up-to-date information from the BOM and the SES.

Please keep check in with elderly or vulnerable neighbours and friends to make sure they are ok.

The SES is again asking people not to drive, walk or ride through flood waters and to keep clear of creeks and storm drains.

People needing emergency help in floods and storms should call the SES on 132 500.

To report flooded roads, trees across roads or damage to Council infrastructure people should call Council during office hours on 02 6626 7000 or use the Report It tab on Council’s website.
