Book a tank or bore water Council audit to ensure you are compliant

Council is encouraging residents that have a rainwater tank or access to a bore to get it certified by Council to ensure you are compliant and can display a certified ‘Tank or Bore Water in Use’ sign.

Audits are currently being conducted by Council’s Plumbing, Drainage & Trade Waste Officer (Licenced plumber) on properties that have access to the town water supply and have been identified through water patrols, rangers and upon request as either having a bore or tank water sign or have stated that the water is being sourced from a bore or tank.

Armidale Regional Council Mayor Cr Simon Murray said that this initiative ensures that Council and residents are confident that water being used in the garden is from a bore or water tank.

“We are asking people to contact Council to conduct an audit, and if compliant receive a free Council branded Tank or Bore Water in Use sign to display in their front yards,” said Cr Murray.

“Interestingly we have found a few home owners in new houses that are basix certified don’t realise that when their tanks are empty outside taps source water from the town supply.

“A bit of common sense is required. Putting a sign up at the front of your property indicating tank water is in use may not actually be correct. If we haven’t had rain for a while it is likely your outside water is coming from the town supply not from tank water.”

Residents, schools, sporting venues and businesses that have a bore or tank water and are also on the town supply are eligible and encouraged to book an audit.
