Boost to roads and infrastructure spending

Council intends to use a $3.6 million Federal Government funding grant to help deliver key infrastructure projects as part of its 2022/23 capital works program.

An offer of $3,661,036 has been received by Council under the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) Program Phase 3.

The objective of the LRCI Program is to stimulate additional infrastructure construction activity in local communities across Australia to assist communities to manage the economic impacts of COVID-19.

Council will submit the following projects to be funded by the LRCI Program:

  • Kerb and channel and shoulder sealing program, $2 million
  • Active travel strategy, $400,000
  • Footpath renewal program, $500,000
  • Aquatic facility renewal, $350,000
  • Toilet facilities renewal, $311,306
  • Esplanade renewal program, $100,000
