Boy drowns in public pool at Griffith, NSW

A boy has died in hospital after being found unconscious at a swimming pool in Griffith last week.

On Friday (20 December 2019), the nine-year-old boy, who police believe suffered from a medical condition, was found slumped in the water near the side of a public swimming pool about 3pm.

A parent pulled the boy from the pool before lifesavers commenced CPR.

Paramedics and officers from Murrumbidgee Police District attended and the boy was taken to Griffith Hospital.

Despite their efforts, the boy died in hospital yesterday (Sunday 22 December 2019).

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident continue, however; the incident is not being treated as suspicious.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
