Brand New Boat Ramp At Waranga Basin

VIC Premier

One of northern Victoria’s most popular boating destinations now has a brand-new dual-lane boat ramp – thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.

The new Harriman Point boat ramp at Waranga Basin has been doubled in size to boost capacity, improve safety and access and make launching easier for boaters, fishers and visitors heading out on the water.

Works to replace the 155-metre-long concrete structure and add the second lane began in April, with a turning circle also added to remove the need to reverse down the full length of the ramp.

Compacted gravel has also been laid down in the adjacent carpark so finding a space is easier in all conditions.

The Labor Government invested $450,000 to upgrade the boat ramp – with the works managed by ramp manager Goulburn-Murray Water (GMW) in association with Better Boating Victoria (BBV).

Harriman Point boat ramp is one of three ramps that provides boating access to Waranga – which is located between Rushworth and Tatura – and draws in boaters from across the Goulburn Valley, central Victoria and further afield.

The Victorian Fisheries Authority (VFA) has stocked Waranga Basin with golden perch fingerlings and will release another 750,000 native fish in the next three years. The VFA is also reinvesting fishing licence fees into a $100,000 native fish habitat project.
