Brimbank community urged to help slow COVID-19 spread

Brimbank Mayor Cr Georgina Papafotiou

is asking our Brimbank community members to help slow the spread of COVID-19 by following the advice of health authorities after the Victorian Government this weekend tightened some restrictions because of an increase in infection numbers.

The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has provided advice that people in the municipalities of Hume, Casey, Brimbank, Moreland, Cardinia and Darebin should be particularly vigilant about adhering strictly to the rules including limiting visitors to their home, leaving home only when necessary, practising physical distancing and good hygiene at all times – and immediately getting tested if they have even the mildest of symptoms.

DHHS is putting in place a number of support measures to assist councils with high infection numbers, planning increased engagement with multicultural communities and an increased number of testing locations in Brimbank.

Council has welcomed the extra support measures being put in place, acknowledging the number of infections and the possibility of stricter regulations would be of immense concern to our residents and businesses.
