A Broadbeach grandmother is finally ticking off her “when I win the lottery” wish list after her dream came true in last night’s Weekday Windfall draw, scoring a $1 million win.
The Gold Coast resident held one of the two division one winning entries nationally in Weekday Windfall draw 4609, drawn Wednesday 8 October 2025. She looks forward to $1 million.
So far in 2025, there have been 14 major lottery wins in the Gold Coast region that have collectively taken home more than $28 million in prize money.
The winning woman relayed how the million-dollar discovery came about, revealing she thought something was wrong when her husband when he first discovered their newfound fortune.
“That’s unbelievable!” she laughed.
“I was in the kitchen icing a cake and my husband was in the living room, and he just started to scream and yell. I thought he was having a heart attack! I didn’t know what was going on.
“You can’t even imagine the noises that came out of my husband’s mouth; he was really carrying on. It was hilarious!
“I didn’t get any sleep last night! I don’t know why, but I thought I’d get an email from The Lott about the win, and I was waiting until 3am to receive one. I was tossing and turning.
“Three years ago, I made a list called ‘If I won Lotto’ with praying hands next to it. It included buying two cars, one for my husband and one for me, going on a holiday, and fixing the house.
“We haven’t travelled since before the pandemic. Our last planned trip was cancelled due to covid!
“We’re so excited to finally book a holiday. We’ll be going on a cruise to Japan!
“I look after everyone, so I’m very excited to go on a cruise and have people look after me!
“This is an absolute game changer. It’s been tough for my family and I, and we’re so excited for a breath of fresh air!”
Her winning 5-game QuickPick was purchased on The Lott website – the official home of Australia’s lotteries.
The winning numbers in Weekday Windfall draw 4609 on Monday 6 October 2025 were 35, 12, 40, 44, 30 and 29, while the supplementary numbers were 31 and 37.
