There has been a slight slowing in the city’s building boom, with 55 new dwellings approved in July, a 15% decrease on July 2020.
While the approval of new dwellings is now decreasing compared to the highs of last year, the numbers still remain above the normal trends expected for Cairns.
However, there was an increase in development applications reported, with 65 applications last month, compared to 58 in July 2020.
The city experienced a significant increase of approvals for new dwellings in the 2020-21 financial year, a 91% increase on the 2019-20 financial year.
