Bumper weekends for CFA Open Days

The next two weekends are proving to be the biggest community days of the year, with CFA Brigades opening their doors to the public across the state.

With nearly 100 events scheduled over the two weekends, CFA Open Days give the community a chance to get a better understanding of the work our firefighters do.

Lake Tyers Brigade down in East Gippsland will be hosting an extra special open day on October 19, with the open day coinciding with the delivery of the brigade’s brand new slip-on vehicle. To recognise the significance of this hard-working team CFA has commissioned Aboriginal artwork, Working Together to cover the bonnet of the slip-on.

Brigade Captain Charmaine Sellings said the new appliance is a great addition for the community.

“We protect 4,000 acres of beautiful Australian bush and over 40 homes, the Open Day is a great opportunity to reinforce our fire safety message and demonstrate what we do for the community.”

Warrandyte Fire Brigade in the suburbs of Melbourne will be having a large Open Day with live demonstrations, fire talks, trucks, food, coffee and even a jumping castle.
