Business Hardship Package Applications Open

The Territory Labor Government is delivering additional support to Territory businesses as part of our Jobs Rescue and Recovery Plan.

Our Roadmap to the New Normal means we can get back to business, back to work and back to enjoying our great Territory lifestyle. But it will be a long road to recovery, and we are going to support businesses and jobs every step of the way.

Territory business can now apply to be listed on a central Business Hardship Register which will then enable business to apply for:

  • Waiving or deferring payment of payroll tax;
  • Reduction on utilities bills where offered
  • Rate reductions where offered
  • Providing incentives for commercial landlords to reduce rents
  • Other relief which may be offered from time to time

Commercial landlords are also eligible for this support as long as they provide evidence they have negotiated with their tenants in line with the good faith principles in the National Cabinets Mandatory Code of Conduct.

This is unprecedented action to help protect Territory businesses and save Territory jobs during the coronavirus crisis.

This support will assist businesses who have proven hardship from the coronavirus pandemic from 1 April 2020 and will be available until 30 September 2020.

All businesses who have been approved for the Small Business Survival Fund will also be eligible to be included on this Register.

The package is designed to help reduce costs for local businesses and keep them open and operating now, as well as in the rebound and recovery phase once the COVID -19 crisis is over and restrictions start to lift.
