Busselton pilots urged not to push envelope

Busselton pilots are being urged not to push the safety envelope.

A new safety education campaign by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority puts the spotlight on avoiding risky behaviour when flying.

At a seminar next week Busselton pilots will learn about not flying beyond the edges of their personal limits.

This is vital as around 80 per cent of aviation accidents can be linked to mistakes, errors or incorrect judgement.

CASA’s Peter Gibson says the seminar will give pilots of all levels extra training in key safety areas.

“Busselton pilots have comprehensive safety training and this campaign provides even more knowledge about how to prevent accidents and incidents,” Peter Gibson says.

“We will focus on issues such as fatigue, distractions and loss of situational awareness.

“Lessons from past accidents and incidents will be highlighted.”

The seminar is also a great chance for pilots to raise any local safety issues and ask questions about rules and regulations.

The Busselton aviation safety seminar is being held on Friday 5 November 2021 at 6pm at the Busselton Aero Club.

Bookings are essential to allow COVID-19 requirements to be met.
