Call for information – Stolen motor vehicles – Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police are calling for information after 3 vehicles were stolen and driven dangerously around Alice Springs.

On Sunday night, a blue Mazda CX-5 was stolen from a residence in Braitling while sometime on Monday, a black Jeep Grand Cherokee was stolen from a location in the Alice Springs CBD.

Both vehicles were observed driving dangerously and throwing rocks at police throughout Monday night.

A white Jeep Patriot was also reported stolen late on Monday night, with reports that the occupants of the vehicle were throwing rocks at members of the public in Desert Springs.

All 3 vehicles were then observed throwing rocks and attempting to ram police vehicles throughout the CBD.

All of the stolen vehicles were recovered abandoned early this morning.

Detectives from Strike Force Viper have arrested a 14-year-old male in relation to the offending and he is expected to be charged later today.

Investigations remain ongoing.

Detective Senior Sergeant Robert Kent said, “Last night we saw repeated dangerous behaviour that was targeted at police and some members of the public.

“Forensics is currently being conducted on the stolen vehicles as detectives continue their work to identify everyone involved.

“Police are urging residents to review their CCTV, particularly in Desert Springs and Braitling, for footage of the stolen Mazda and both Jeeps. You can make a report to police on 131 444. Please quote reference 10506980.
