The Australian Government is inviting applications for membership of the Aged Care Quality and Safety Advisory Council.
An Expression of Interest is launching today, seeking experienced individuals qualified to provide advice to Government on key matters relating to the aged care sector.
The Council was established following Recommendation 7 of the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety, and provides expert advice to the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commissioner and the Aged Care Complaints Commissioner – identifying emerging risks, making recommendations and monitoring the effectiveness of the Commission’s work to uphold and protect the rights of older people.
The Advisory Council also provides advice to the Minister for Aged Care and Seniors on matters relating to the performance of the Commission’s functions.
As part of the Government’s generational reforms, the Advisory Council has the independence and autonomy to oversee the Commission’s work, ensuring the aged care sector is held to account where necessary, to influence the direction of aged care regulation, and to directly engage with the Minister for Aged Care and Seniors regarding policy settings.
