Camellia-Rosehill set for vibrant revival

A 20-year plan to transform Camellia-Rosehill into a thriving precinct with new jobs, housing, entertainment facilities and a promenade along the Parramatta River, has been released for community feedback today.

Executive Director for the Central River City at the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment Catherine Van Laeren said the draft Camellia-Rosehill Place Strategy would create a vibrant entertainment zone and a thriving residential town centre.

“The draft Place Strategy will support up to 14,500 jobs and 10,000 new homes in a thriving community, surrounded by infrastructure including the Parramatta Light Rail, new public open spaces and cycling and pedestrian paths,” Ms Van Laeren said.

“This area sits in a prime location on the banks of the Parramatta River, and our vision sees the waterfront as a focal point of community activity and recreation.

“Consultation has been crucial to the development of this plan and we’ve worked with the City of Parramatta and Cumberland City councils, other government agencies, landowners, community and Aboriginal groups during its preparation.”

Ms Van Laeren said community feedback on the draft Place Strategy would be vital to its finalisation.

“The plans will be on extended exhibition because it’s important that local residents, business owners and the wider community have their say to help shape the future of this site.”

The draft Camellia-Rosehill Place Strategy will be on extended public exhibition until Friday 4th March 2022 to ensure everyone has the opportunity to have their say on the future of this important area of Western Sydney.
