Campaspe Libraries will host a range of Australian authors during March, beginning today with their special International Women’s Day event featuring Hazel Edwards OAM and local writer, poet and artist, Karen Mills.

Campaspe Shire Mayor Rob Amos said that these visits continue the tradition of Campaspe Libraries bringing remarkable female authors to the community.

“We are thrilled to be able to host this fantastic selection of female authors for International Women’s Day and throughout March, each bringing a unique literary voice to our community,” Mayor Amos said.

Queensland based biographer, Rachel Syers will visit the library on Friday, 15 March. As a freelance writer and journalist spanning over 30 years, she has written about some of Australia and the world’s most talked about people and events. Her talk will focus on her biography of Sir Bruce Small From Malvern Star To Mr Gold Coast, the entrepreneur who built his bicycle empire into a household name, found fame managing Australian cycling icon ‘Oppy’ before becoming Mayor of the Gold Coast.

Award winning author, Fiona Lowe will be appearing at Kyabram Library on Monday, 18 March. Drawing on her lived experiences as a midwife, counsellor and family support worker, Fiona writes novels about family and relationships which are set in small country towns and feature real people facing tough choices, and explores how family ties impact on their decisions.

Glenna Thomson will appear at Echuca Library on Thursday 21 March. After a successful career overseas, Ms Thomson and her husband spent almost twenty years living and working on their cattle property in rural Victoria.
