Canberra Day in suburbs – say thank you to ESA

Celebrate the fantastic work of the Territory’s citizens of the year, our emergency services personnel, at several town centres across the ACT this Saturday.

The community will have an opportunity to write a message of support to our local heroes at specially set up ‘Appreciation Stations’ at four Canberra Day in the Suburbs events on Saturday 7 March.

The messages will then be broadcast on screens next to the musical stage at the main Canberra Day event on Monday 9 March.

Minister for the Arts, Creative Industries and Cultural Events Gordon Ramsay encouraged locals to visit the four Canberra Day in the Suburbs locations which will also include music, a community barbecue, birthday cake and the opportunity to thank emergency services representatives in person.

“Stop by the Canberra Day in the Suburbs events being held between 11am and 2pm at Belconnen, Cooleman Court, Gungahlin and Tuggeranong and write a thank you message, connect with your community and enjoy a piece of cake or a sausage sizzle,” Minister Ramsay said.

There’s plenty to do this Canberra Day weekend which also includes the running of the 17th Lights! Canberra! Action! short film festival on Friday 6 March at the Senate Rose Gardens and Symphony in the Park on Sunday 8 March at Stage 88 featuring the Canberra Symphony Orchestra’s take on Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours album.
