Cannabis crop and illegal weapons lead to arrest, South Australia

Police have arrested a man following the discovery of a significant cannabis crop in the State’s mid-north.

On Tuesday 3 March, York Mid North Police with assistance from the Dog Operations Unit, carried out a search of a rural property and uncovered 50 cannabis plants being grown naturally and hydroponically. Police also located insecure firearms, a crossbow and evidence the power supply had been diverted.

A 32-year-old from the York Mid North was charged with cultivation of a commercial quantity of cannabis, theft of electricity, possession of a prohibited weapon and various firearm offences relating to the security of his firearms and ammunition.

He has been bailed to appear in the Clare Magistrates Court on 4 May.
