Car stolen in Toorak aggravated burglary

Vanguard Taskforce detectives from Prahran are appealing for public assistance after a car was stolen during an aggravated burglary and a police car rammed in Toorak early this morning.

It is believed up to five offenders attended outside a house on Glenbervie Road when two offenders climbed the front fence of the house about 3am.

The offenders gained access to the downstairs living area and stole a number of car keys and attempted to gain access to five parked cars in the driveway.

The offenders were disturbed by the occupants of the house and fled the scene, stealing a black Mercedes sedan parked on the street.

The offenders are all perceived to be African in appearance.

A short time later, police were on patrol when they attempted to intercept a silver Ford wagon on Grosvenor Court in Toorak.

The Ford failed to pull over and reversed into the police car before crashing into a parked car and fled the scene.

No one was injured.

Detectives are keen to speak to any witnesses or anyone that may have been in the area at the time of the incident.

Anyone with further information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
