A carer has been charged after spray from a high-pressure water cleaner injured a resident at a group home at Mt Ousley.

Officers from Wollongong Police Area Command initiated an investigation after the family of a man – who has a number of disabilities – reported he’d been injured at the home on Aristo Crescent on Sunday 1 September 2019.

Police have been told the 36-year-old man was found with numerous injuries across his side and buttocks after he was hit with spray from a high-pressure water cleaner, allegedly being operated by a carer at the home.

Following inquiries, detectives arrested a 41-year-old woman at Wollongong Police Station earlier today (Friday 8 November 2019), and charged her with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

She has been granted conditional bail and is due to appear in Wollongong Local Court on 7 January 2020.
