Central Goldfields Shire Council’s Planning Scheme Amendment, C31cgol, has been approved by the State Government.

A notice of this approval was published in the Special Government Gazette on Friday 22 October, 2021.

The amendment implements the findings of the Carisbrook Flood and Drainage Management Plan 2013, the Dunolly Flood Investigation 2014 and flood mapping of rural land affected by the January 2011 flood event by updating the flood provision in the Central Goldfields Planning Scheme.

The changes are intended to make the built environment more resilient to the impacts of future flood events by requiring new buildings and major renovations to address flood risk, as well as more accurately representing areas of flood risk in the light of previous flood events and better mapping data.

The Shire’s Planning Scheme Amendment was open to community feedback during May to July in 2020 and following a Panel hearing on 23 November, 2020, it was adopted by Council on 23 February, 2021.

Central Goldfields Shire Mayor-elect Cr Chris Meddows-Taylor said he was pleased to see the amendment approved.

“Thank you to everyone who provided feedback and their continued support as Council sought approval.”
