Carramar grass tree fire

Strike Force Vulcan officers are investigating a tree fire that occurred around 8am on Tuesday, 18 February 2020 in Carramar.

It is believed the grass tree was set on fire after a person ignited a flare. The grass tree was in a park next to a children’s playground on Ripplevale Circle.

Department of Fire and Emergency Services attended and were able to extinguish the fire before it spread to playground equipment.

Investigators wish to speak to anyone who saw any suspicious people or activity, or has dash-cam vision of the area around the playground between 7.45am and 8.15am.

Rewards of up to $50,000 are available for information that leads to the identification and conviction of an arsonist.
