Carss Park Pool project powers ahead with construction contractor appointed

Following a competitive tender process, ADCO Constructions has been appointed to lead the construction of the new facility.

The new Carss Park pool will feature an 8-lane, 50m outdoor pool, 20 metre x 10 metre outdoor Learn to Swim pool along with modern amenities and infrastructure to provide the community with a quality facility for recreation, exercise, competition and learn to swim programs.

The former pool was permanently closed in 2019 after it was found to be contributing to the pollution in Kogarah Bay.

Following strong community advocacy, the Minns Labor Government committed to working with the Federal Government and Georges River Council to build a new pool at the site.

The NSW Government, through the Office of Sport, is leading the project on behalf of Georges River Council.

The appointment of the construction contractor follows the finalisation of the design for the new pool in February this year by Tanner Kibble Denton (TKD) Architects.

Construction of the new pool is expected to commence in August 2026 with the pool scheduled to open to the public in late 2027.

Premier of New South Wales and Member for Kogarah Chris Minns said:

“The return of Carss Park Pool was a key promise I made to the Kogarah community, and it is exciting to see this important project move forward towards its delivery.

“The appointment of ADCO Constructions is another important step in delivering a new pool that will provide generations of local families with a place to swim, stay active and connect with their community.

“With construction about to begin, Kogarah residents can start getting excited about having one of the most modern and accessible swimming facilities in Sydney on their doorsteps.”

Minister for Sport Steve Kamper said:

“The new Carss Park Pool will deliver a fantastic facility for local families, swimmers and young people, creating more opportunities to learn to swim, stay active and enjoy sport and recreation.

“The appointment of the construction contractor is a significant milestone as we power ahead to deliver this important facility to the Georges River community.”
