CCTV released, appeal for information after home damaged by fire at Bankstown, NSW

Police have released CCTV and are appealing for information from the public as investigations continue into a suspicious house fire in Sydney’s south west last week.

About 1.45am on Friday 23 September 2022, emergency services were called to Ogmore Court, Bankstown, following reports the garage of a home was on fire.

Fire and Rescue NSW extinguished the blaze; however, the home and garage were severely damaged.

Two occupants – a 19-year-old woman and a 17-year-old boy – were home at the time; however, exited the home without injury.

Officers attached to Bankstown Police Area Command established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist forensic police.

The fire was deemed suspicious and subsequently Strike Force Portelli was established to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

As those investigations continue, detectives have released CCTV of a man they believe may be able to assist them.

The man depicted in the vision walks with a significant limp and is wearing a hooded jumper and long pants.
