CCTV released as detectives investigate suspected public place shooting – Cherrybrook

Criminal Groups Squad detectives are appealing for public assistance as they continue to investigate a public place shooting in Sydney’s north-west last month.

Shortly after 11.35am on Thursday 16 February 2023, a 26-year-old man presented to a Sydney hospital with gunshot wounds.

He has undergone treatment and has since been discharged.

Police were notified a short time later, with detectives from Parramatta Police Area Command attending the hospital to conduct inquiries.

The State Crime Command’s Criminal Groups Squad have since taken carriage of the investigation under Strike Force Nyinya.

Initial inquiries suggest the man sustained his injuries sometime between 10am and 11am that day in Cherrybrook.

As part of inquiries, strike force detectives executed a search warrant at a home in Cherrybrook shortly before 8am last Thursday (2 March 2023).

During the search, officers seized three firearms, ammunition, various amounts of cocaine, MDMA, ketamine, cannabis, LSD, GBL, methylamphetamine, and prescription medications. Officers also seized more than $15,000 cash.

All items will undergo further forensic examination.

A 30-year-old man was arrested at the home and taken to Ryde Police Station and charged with possess unauthorised prohibited firearm, and three counts of possess prohibited drug.

He was refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court the same day, where he was granted conditional bail to appear at the same court on Thursday 16 March 2023.

As detectives continue the investigation, they have released CCTV footage of three vehicles and believe the occupants may be able to assist with their inquiries.

A white van was seen driving north-west along Boundary Road, towards New Line Road, a short time after 11am on Thursday 16 February 2023, with a second white van and a white sedan seen driving the same route immediately after.

As investigations continue, anyone who may have dashcam footage from Boundary and New Line Roads between 10am and midday on Thursday 16 February 2023, or who might have information about this incident is urged to contact police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
