CCTV vision released as part of investigation into break-in syndicate, NSW

Police are appealing for information as investigations continue into a criminal syndicate allegedly involved in breaking into homes across Sydney.

In November last year, detectives from the Financial Crime Squad’s Motor Unit established Strike Force Swete to investigate criminal syndicates involved in break-ins across Sydney.

Just after 11.30am on Wednesday 28 April 2021, police were called to a home on Robert Street, Telopea, following reports of a male intruder.

Police were told a 36-year-old woman was inside her home, with a 40-year-old female friend, when she was alerted to the presence of an unknown man attempting to leave the premises through the front door.

The man left the scene in a stolen white Audi S3, driven by a second unknown man.

About 11.50am the same day, emergency services were called to a home on Kissing Point Road at Dundas, after reports of an attempted stealing.

Police were told a 35-year-old man parked his vehicle in the driveway and when he returned to the car, he saw an unknown man getting out of the driver’s seat of the car.

When the owner confronted the man, he ran to a white Audi parked nearby, which was driven from the scene by another unknown person.

About 3.30am the following day (Thursday 29 April 2021), police were called to a home on Volmer Street, Oatlands, following reports of break-in.

Police were told personal items, including credit cards, were stolen from the property.

Later that morning, a white Audi sedan was captured on CCTV driving into a shopping centre carpark on Carlisle Avenue at Mount Druitt.

A man matching the description of the person captured on CCTV at the first break-in, allegedly attempted to withdraw money from an ATM using the stolen credit card.

About 10.45pm that night, the Audi was seen on Popondetta Road, Blackett, before it was later abandoned and located by police.

Detectives believe the break-ins and fraudulent transaction at Mount Druitt are linked.

As investigations continue, detectives have released CCTV captured at Mount Druitt of a man they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries.

The man depicted in the CCTV is described as being about 183cm tall, aged between 20-25, with a skinny build and dark hair. He was wearing a black baseball cap, black track pants and a blue hooded jumper with a hi-vis yellow vest.

Since the inception of Strike Force Swete, detectives have charged seven men. They all remain before the courts.

Investigations are continuing.
