Research that tackles issues confronting Northern Australia, our South-east Asian neighbours and beyond is being showcased in a series of online events this week.

Charles Darwin University’s Research Week is providing access to experts and workshops on topics from the latest advances in Indigenous health to conservation and innovative technology.

The week kicked off with the Three Minute Thesis and Visualise Your Thesis competitions, which were held on Sunday as part of CDU’s Virtual Open Day.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research and Innovation Professor Bogdan Dlugogorski said Research Week was an opportunity to showcase the diversity and impact of world-class research expected to generate increased stakeholder and community engagement.

“CDU is a progressive research-intensive university that prioritises the complex issues facing Northern Australia and the Asia-Pacific,” Professor Dlugogorski said.

“The distinctive characteristics of our region present our researchers and students with unique experiences and opportunities.

“We’ve had breakthroughs with positive outcomes in many areas including tropical health, technologies to improve health in remote communities, preserving Indigenous languages, accelerating STEM education using technology and others.”

Research Week events include the “Bake your Research” competition, the Northern Institute’s “Case Study on Realist Influence in the Real World” and “The Dialysis Model of Care Project – Determining Value for Money”, a presentation organised by the Menzies School of Health Research.
