Celebrating International Women’s Day

City of Ryde celebrates women’s achievements and supports gender equality as part of International Women’s Day (IWD) in March. This year’s International Women’s Day Forum theme is “Count her in: invest in women, accelerate progress”, focusing on acknowledging the pivotal role women play in shaping a better future and emphasises the importance of investing in their success.

On Saturday 9 March, City of Ryde will host a free International Women’s Day Forum at North Ryde School of Arts, featuring an impressive line-up of guest speakers and performers.

Prabha Nandagopol, a distinguished human rights and discrimination lawyer, will talk about “Women’s Economic Advancement: the importance of Economic Independence, Sexual Harassment in the Workplace, Gender Pay Gap and Cultivating Safe, Respectful and Inclusive Workplaces.”

We will also hear from Karen Pang, a remarkable well-known stage, theatre and screen actor whose credits include Playschool, Home and Away and The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart. Karen will share her thoughts on “Unleashing Potential: Defying Inhibitions, Counting Yourself In and Crafting Your Narrative”.

We are also excited to have Armenian born Australian singer/songwriter Masha Mnjoyan, previous winner of The Voice Armenia and 2020 finalist of The Voice Australia, joining us to perform at the event.
