Celebrating Law Week across Tasmania

Elise Archer,Attorney-General

Minister for Justice

Law Week will be held between 16 and 22 May 2022, and I encourage all Tasmanians to take part and find out more about our legal system and the important role it plays in our lives.

Law Week is an annual event held in May each year across Australian jurisdictions, helping the community to build their knowledge of the law and to understand their rights, find answers to their questions, know what help is available, and find out how the legal system works.

The program of Law Week events and activities is designed to raise awareness within the Tasmanian community of the role of the legal profession and the law in providing access to justice in Tasmania.

This year’s program includes:

  • sentencing workshops conducted by a Judge in the Supreme Court;
  • interactive sessions presented by the Legal Profession Board explaining legal fees; and
  • an online scam awareness session hosted by the eSafety Commissioner.

Law Week is presented by the Legal Profession Board which works with the profession to put together a program of events that provide information and make the law accessible to Tasmanians.

As Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, I am proud to support Law Week and congratulate the Legal Profession Board on putting together an engaging and informative program of events for this year.
