Center for Medical Simulation courses back in 2023

Mater

Mater Education is proud to announce the return of our flagship simulation training in 2023, again partnering with world-leading Boston-based Center for Medical Simulation (CMS) to deliver two CMS training programs:

  • The CMS Healthcare Simulation Essentials: Design and Debriefing course
  • The Advanced Instructor Course (AIC)

The CMS Healthcare Simulation Essentials: Design and Debriefing course is being held from May 16-19 2023 at Mater Education’s South Brisbane campus.

Facilitated by internationally renowned Harvard Medical School’s faculty member and Organisation Behaviour Scholar Dr Jenny Rudolph as well as instructors from CMS, the course is suitable for accredited practitioners and those with an interest in critical care, emergency medicine, obstetric, and neonatology specialists.

The Advanced Instructor Course (AIC) is happening from May 23 – 26 2023 and builds on instructional techniques learned in the Healthcare Simulation Essentials course or CMS’ Simulation as a Teaching Tool and Comprehensive courses.

The AIC can only be completed by participants who’ve already done the Simulation Essentials course.

We’re excited to share that Dr Gabriel Reedy will be joining the faculty for this course, bringing a wealth of experience in the simulation space.

Dr Reedy is the Program Director for the Masters in Clinical Education program at King’s College London and a CMS Faculty Member.

Tod Adams, Curriculum and Education Manager of the Mobile Simulation Centre at the Health Education Training Institute, NSW Health, is coming back to Brisbane again to complete the AIC after doing the Essentials course in 2022.

Tod works in the post-graduate area in inter-professional simulation. She trains rural and remote doctors, nurses and paramedics and transitions teams to be high-performing.

“Mater is well-regarded for this CMS course. They tell you it’s life changing,” Tod said.

“It exceeded expectations and it’s reaffirming that what we are doing in simulation is on the money.”

“I’ve learnt about holding the learner with high regard, respecting the learner and their safety and how to conduct a respectful debrief. We’ve learnt about how to influence future behaviour change, too.”

Spaces are limited for both courses, so make sure you book your spot today.
