Central Coast man charged over murder of Warwick Hunter in Sydney’s west

A man has been charged with murder following an investigation by Homicide Squad detectives into the murder of another man in Sydney’s west last year.

Just before 10.30pm on Sunday 15 November 2020, emergency services were called to Budgeree Road, Toongabbie, and found a man on the footpath suffering multiple stab wounds.

Despite the efforts of emergency services and members of the public, the man died at the scene.

He has since been formally identified as 49-year-old Warwick Hunter.

Officers from Parramatta Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced inquiries into the incident before detectives from the Homicide Squad took carriage of the investigation under Strike Force Burranjurra.

Following extensive inquiries and a public appeal for information, a 29-year-old man was arrested at Lake Munmorah about 7am today (Wednesday 10 November 2021).

He was taken to Wyong Police Station, where he was charged with murder, robbery in company and aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence – armed.

The man was refused bail to appear at Wyong Local Court today.
