Changes to flood waste collection and drop off: Ballina Shire

Changes to flood waste collection and drop off

Over the past few months Ballina Shire Council’s Resource Recovery Team have collected and accepted thousands of trucks loads of flood waste.

Council staff, contractors and the Australian Defence Force have visited properties across South Ballina, Wardell, Cabbage Tree Island, West Ballina and various other locations to collect kerbside flood waste.

“We have appreciated the community’s patience and cooperation over the past few months as we worked hard to support flood-affected locals and businesses,” said Mr Lloyd Isaacson, Manager Resource Recovery.

Council’s flood kerbside waste collection has now finished and Ballina Shire Council is asking residents to no longer place flood-affected waste on the kerbside.

Flood damaged furniture, household items, wall linings, kitchens and flooring is considered flood waste, and can be dropped off to the Waste Management Centre for FREE until close of business Tuesday 26 April. After this time, residents will need to pay for disposal.
