Charges Laid Against Andgar Piggery

Thursday 25 June 2026

RSPCA South Australian can confirm that 49 charges have been laid in connection to the ill-treatment of multiple animals at Andgar Piggery, located in Dublin, north of Adelaide. One defendant has been charged with all 49 counts, while four additional defendants have been charged with 31 of those offences.

The investigation commenced last year following the submission of video footage filmed inside the Dublin premises on June 14 and 20, 2025.

RSPCA SA Inspectors accompanied by PIRSA veterinary staff conducted an inspection of the piggery on June 27 of last year where multiple pigs were humanely euthanised.

Twenty-one Animal Welfare Notices were issued by RSPCA SA, instructing the owners and manager to take immediate action to address the health and welfare issues concerning multiple animals, as well as their poor living conditions.

Three further inspections were conducted by RSPCA SA over subsequent months to ensure compliance with the Animal Welfare Notice directions.

RSPCA SA’s Head of Animal Welfare, Andrea Lewis, said the organisation is pleased that charges have now been laid.

“This has been an extremely complex matter, and over the past 12 months we have worked tirelessly and diligently to thoroughly review the evidence and prepare a strong and well-supported case,” said Ms Lewis.

“Now that charges have been laid, we look forward to the legal proceedings progressing and to seeing justice achieved for the animals that were harmed.”

The matter is scheduled to appear before the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on 7 July at 10am. A further update will be provided following the conclusion of the hearing.

As this is an ongoing investigation, RSPCA SA will not be providing additional commentary or updates at this time.

RSPCA South Australia is empowered to investigate animal cruelty and enforce animal welfare legislation in our state. In addition to issuing Animal Welfare Notices, we can also lay criminal charges.
