Charges laid against three teens after pursuit in Drummoyne

Three teenagers have now been charged following a police pursuit that ended in Drummoyne today.

About 9.30am (Friday 9 October 2020), officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command commenced a short pursuit of a white Mercedes – which had been reported stolen – on Victoria Road, Ermington.

The pursuit was terminated shortly after due to the dangerous manner of driving.

The Aviation Command continued to track the vehicle through Denniston West, Ryde and Gladesville, before it stopped near the intersection of Victoria and Lyons roads at Drummoyne about 9.45am, and three male occupants were arrested.

Two female occupants fled on foot towards Renwick and Edwin streets, before one of the females, aged 13, was arrested nearby.

The girl, and three males, two aged 17 and one aged 18, were taken to Ryde Police Station.

The 18-year-old man was charged with six offences, which includes police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, and destroy or damage property.

The Rydalmere man was bail refused to appear in Parramatta Local Court tomorrow (Saturday 10 October 2020).

The two 17-year-old males were charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner. Both teens were granted strict conditional bail to appear in a children’s court on Monday 26 October 2020.

The 13-year-old girl was dealt with under the Young Offenders Act.
