Child dies and multiple injured in four-vehicle crash in Riverwood

Emergency services are at the scene of a serious crash on the M5 at Riverwood.

About 8.20am (Wednesday 27 November 2019), emergency services were called to the M5, just east of Belmore Road, following reports of a crash.

Police have been told a truck and three vehicles travelling east bound collided.

A child died at the scene and another child, also travelling in the same vehicle, was taken to hospital for treatment.

All four drivers – two women and two men – have been taken to hospital for mandatory testing and treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Officers from Campsie Police Area Command established a crime scene, which will be examined by the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit.

Motorists are urged to avoid the area.
