Child exploitation charges, South Brisbane

Detectives from Argos and the Wynnum Child Protection Investigation Unit have arrested a man in relation to the alleged possession of child exploitation material (CEM).

A search warrant was executed at an address in Alexandra Hills on Wednesday after police received advice the 32-year-old man had been accessing CEM via a publicly accessible cloud storage platform.

During the search police seized a number of electronic items, including a computer, phone, hard drives and online cloud storage accounts alleged to contain further CEM.

Investigations are underway to determine the identity of the victims in the CEM and whether they may be linked to the man.

The 32-year-old man has been charged with five counts of possessing child exploitation material and use carriage service to access child abuse material. The man has been released on strict bail conditions to appear in the Cleveland Magistrates Court on 24 August 2021.
