The City of Greater Bendigo is calling for community feedback on the actions contained within a new draft LGBTIQA+ Inclusion Action Plan which aims to create a safe, welcoming, and fair community for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and gender diverse, intersex, queer and asexual people in Greater Bendigo.
The draft LGBTIQA+ Inclusion Action Plan will be opened for community feedback today on IDAHOBIT Day by Greater Bendigo Mayor Cr Andrea Metcalf.
City of Greater Bendigo Community Partnerships Andie West said the draft plan aims to address issues, gaps and opportunities over the next two years that LGBTIQA+ people have identified are important to them.
“The draft plan sets out the actions the City will do over two years to increase inclusion for LGBTIQA+ people and features 41 actions aligned to the five priority areas of the Healthy Greater Bendigo Plan,” Ms West said.
“The five priority areas are healthy and well, safe and secure, able to participate, connected to culture and community and liveable.
“It is the City’s commitment to LGBTIQA+ inclusion training and the provision of safe and inclusive services, facilities, programs and events.
“Development of the draft plan has been informed by community engagement previously undertaken for the Health and Wellbeing Plan as part of Imagine Greater Bendigo and has both internal and external community focus.
“By providing feedback on the draft the community can influence the development of the final LGBTIQA+ Inclusion Action Plan for the next two years.
“The City is keen to know if we got it right and encourages members of the community to view the draft plan and have their say by visiting the Let’s Talk website at www.letstalkgreaterbendigo.com.au by June 16, 2023.”
