City of Ballarat moves to cement its role as a leading regional events destination

The City of Ballarat is seeking to develop a new event to fill a gap in its expanding Events Calendar.

The City is seeking Expressions of Interest from creative and event management professionals to develop and deliver an event and/or series of activations that will communicate the personality and identity of the City and engage with visitors and locals alike.

The brief is for a powerful yet simple city-wide activity that will express the unique and authentic experience for locals and visitors in line with Council’s Creative City Strategy and the 2018 – 2028 Events Strategy obligations.

“Our community has told us through our Creative City Strategy that they want a homegrown event, unique to Victoria, that offers an authentic experience of Ballarat,” Angelique Lush, Director of Development and Planning said.

“This is a great opportunity for our regional event industries to come forward with proposals that are bold, innovative and creative, and that articulate our point of difference,” she said.

The event will be held during Spring, ideally during the September/October school holiday period and will offer a wide range of activities and interest to identified target audiences.

The new event will run on the off year to the Ballarat International Foto Biennale. It will fill a prime spot on the City’s extensive Events Calendar, with White Night scheduled to travel to Bendigo and Geelong over the next two years.

The City is hopeful the proposed new event can grow into a flagship event for Ballarat over time.
