City of Ballarat Response to overnight Storm Damage

Due to the recent storm activity, there as been significant damage to trees and services across the region.

City of Ballarat teams are working to assess tress to make affected areas as safe as possible; prioritising critical incidents and working closely with SES and other emergency service responders.

We are encouraging community to avoid high risk areas as more strong winds are forecast. Areas such as Lake Wendouree and Victoria Park should be avoided where possible at this time and please be vigilant if you do need to venture out.

Please also be patient as there will be delays in some services and traffic lights may be out in parts of the city, so be careful and considerate on the roads.

Rubbish Bin Collection

The wild winds have also caused kerbside bins in Sebastopol, Delacombe, Redan, Bonshaw and Smythes Creek to be knocked over. Residents are asked to attend to these bins being stood back on the kerbside so our Waste Collection Drivers can empty them for you today.

The Ballarat Transfer Station is closed due to inclement weather making the site unsafe and there is no power on site to operate. We will continue to update you if they will reopen the site. Apologies for any inconvenience.

Affected Council Services

The Ballarat Animal Shelter is closed to public due to a power outage. The shelter can be contacted by phone for lost pets or animal emergencies.

The Customer Service Centre at the Phoenix Building is currently closed due to the power outage. Customer Service can be contacted via phone and online.
