City of Ballarat Welcomes Victorian Budget 2019-2020

City of Ballarat has warmly welcomed details of the 2019-2020 Victorian State Budget, with the Ballarat community set to benefit from tens of millions of dollars in funding for key projects in the next financial year.

Delivered in State Parliament today, the Victorian Budget includes full funding in the next financial year for several priority projects, including: $10 million for Her Majesty’s Theatre, $7.1 million for the Wendouree Recreation and Community Hub, $5 million for upgrades to streetscapes in Sebastopol, $2.5 million for lighting at Lake Wendouree and in Victoria Park, $6.6 million for Mars Stadium and $5.2 million for the Ballarat Sports and Entertainment Centre.

Ballarat Mayor, Cr Samantha McIntosh welcomed details of the funding and congratulated the state government on following through with funding for so many of its election promises so promptly.

“Thanks of course must go to our local Members of Parliament, Juliana Addison and Michaela Settle, both of whom have clearly worked hard to ensure these projects will be funded at the beginning of the State Government’s term.

“These projects all resonate with communities in Ballarat. They are projects City of Ballarat supports – many which we lobbied hard for in the lead up to the state election – it is pleasing to see them being funded. City of Ballarat will deliver many of them on behalf of the State Government”, Mayor McIntosh said.

Ballarat also received funding allocations for roads and intersection projects, for parking infrastructure and for upgrades to local schools.
