City of Canada Bay celebrates Lunar New Year

The City of Canada Bay is working with local charity Communities for Communities to welcome in the Year of the Tiger.

Families from across Sydney are invited to come to Rhodes Foreshore Park on Saturday, 5 February from 5:30-10pm for a cultural extravaganza.

“Our diverse community brings so much vibrancy to the City and we are proud to sponsor this year’s Lunar New Year event,” City of Canada Bay Mayor Angelo Tsirekas said.

The delights on offer include an interactive dragon dance, cultural performances by the Rhodes Multicultural Community Association, food stalls, an outdoor movie screening of Sing followed by a fireworks finale.

“The event will be a colourful celebration of the diversity of our community and extra special as it is our first in-person Lunar New Year event since the beginning of the pandemic,” Mayor Tsirekas said.

“I’d like to thank Communities for Communities for hosting the celebration and for their ongoing contribution to the community.”
