City of Casey set to get $1.6m for local roads and community infrastructure projects

The City of Casey has welcomed the recent Australian Government announcement for an additional $1.6 million towards local road and community infrastructure projects.

The funding will be made available in the upcoming financial year and aims to support the delivery of priority local roads and community infrastructure as part of a major national stimulus package.

City of Casey Chair of Administrators Noelene Duff PSM thanked the Federal Government for the newly allocated funds.

“COVID-19 continues to affect local jobs and the local economy. This $1.6 million investment is an important boost to our capacity to deliver the local road projects needed in our community,” Ms Duff said.

“As one of Australia’s fastest growing local government areas, with more than 360,000 residents, we welcome funding support to help us improve the safety and travel times of those who are commuting or working in the City of Casey.”

City of Casey CEO Glenn Patterson echoed this support of the federal funding boost.

“Council has more than $11 million in shovel-ready local road projects to be delivered that will drive local jobs and improve safety and transport congestion,” Mr Patterson said.

“This new funding will enable Council’s Transport team to identify which of those critical projects will provide the most benefit and deliver them as quickly as possible.”

“Council’s aim is to address urgent projects that can be executed quickly and provide maximum community value and connectivity over our transport network.”
