City of Swan Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jeremy Edwards announced that he is leaving the organisation to pursue further career opportunities.
Mr Edwards tendered his resignation to City of Swan Mayor David Lucas, who reluctantly accepted on behalf of Council. Mr Edwards will formally vacate the role in July 2022.
Mayor Lucas thanked Mr Edwards for his service to the council and Swan community.
“Jeremy will be a loss to the City. His strong and calm leadership has been a steady hand for the City during challenging times and he has ensured the organisation has remained responsive to its community while being faced with many significant external events,” said Mayor Lucas.
“I personally thank Jeremy for the support he has shown me as Mayor and wish him all the best for his next endeavours.”
Mr Edwards said it had been a great privilege to serve the City of Swan as CEO.
“I wish to thank the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Councillors, senior colleagues and all staff during my time. Together we faced many challenges including the Wooroloo bushfire and the COVID-19 pandemic,” Mr Edwards said.
“The City does a great job of responding to the needs of a very diverse community and I am looking forward to seeing Swan continue to grow and thrive.
“I leave behind a resilient, talented organisation and leadership team with a blueprint plan in place for the next ten years.”
Some of the key achievements during Mr Edwards’s time as Chief Executive Officer are:
- developing the Strategic Community Plan 2021-2031,
- responding to the Wooroloo bushfire,
- the development of the City’s first Reconciliation Action Plan,
- opening of Midvale Skate Park, Weeip Park and Ron Jose Oval Pavilion, and
- supporting the community during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The search for a new Chief Executive Officer will begin shortly and in line with the CEO Recruitment Policy.
