It is a priority for Cancer Council WA’s Cancer and Information Support Services division to enhance our facilities to create welcoming, culturally sensitive, and safe environments for our Aboriginal guests and clients by displaying signs and symbols acknowledging local cultures.

What started as a dinner table conversation between Cancer Council WA staff resulted in a fantastic collaboration with the Swan View Clontarf Academy to paint some artwork on an outside wall at Milroy Lodge. There were 15 boys aged 12 to 16 years who visited the lodge after school and were all very keen to participate in the activity.

The students were an absolute delight and have done an outstanding job, with everyone having an enjoyable afternoon.

The wall now provides a visual focus and conversation piece from the Kimberley Lounge or while relaxing in the outside gazebo, and we have already received many positive comments from our guests.

Make sure to visit our Milroy Lodge at 15 Bedbrook Place in Shenton Park and check the artwork out for yourself!
