In a strategic move aimed at improving financial sustainability and focusing on core services, Willoughby City Council has announced the closure of the Chatswood Out of School Hours (OOSH) located at Trumper Pavilion effective from January 2024.

The decision to cease operating services at Chatswood OOSH comes after an evaluation of the current Children’s Services operations by Council and the availability of alternate OOSH services situated on nearby school grounds.

Reduced demand on OOSH services reported by most local providers referencing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the shift to hybrid working arrangements has led to many providers reducing their operations.

In this context, the State Government has expressed support for increased after school care provision on school grounds, influencing Council’s strategic decision to withdraw from Chatswood’s OOSH services.

The withdrawal from OOSH services is scheduled to take effect on the last day of the school year in accordance with the NSW Public Schools calendar.

Primary OSHC operates an OOSH service at Chatswood Public School and has confirmed its capacity to welcome children from Chatswood OOSH in 2024. For those seeking this alternative, Primary OSHC can be contacted through their website.

Council is committed to providing ongoing support for families and staff during this transition to provide the best possible outcomes for all stakeholders involved.
