Western Australia’s South West is adding another major sporting event to its calendar, with the Cook Government securing the AusCycling Mountain Bike Enduro National Championships for 2024, 2025 and 2026.

For the first time ever, the event will be held in Collie from 17-20 October, at the Collie Town Mountain Bike Trails, which provides more than 100 kilometres of trails through towering jarrah forests, steep valleys and meandering rivers.

A dynamic annual event, the Championships will feature National and Oceania Championships, where mountain bikers compete across 20 national championships categories.

More than 1000 riders are anticipated to compete across the event overall, which will serve as an important qualifier for the World Championships and deliver critical Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) points, which help with international rankings.

Thousands of visitors are expected to flock to the South West for the four-day event, injecting valuable tourism and hospitality dollars into the region, supporting the local economy.

It is anticipated to be the only international mountain bike event scheduled anywhere in the world at that time of the year, driving significant interest from spectators and broadcast viewers.

The WA Labor Government has invested more than $10 million into the Collie Adventure Trails initiative to establish Collie as a premier trail town, as part of the ongoing work to diversify the town’s economy as it transitions away from coal.
