CommBank Young Matildas learn AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup Uzbekistan 2024™ group stage opponents

Leah Blayney’s CommBank Young Matildas have learnt their group stage opponents for the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup Uzbekistan 2024™, taking place from March 3-16.

Australia has been drawn into Group A, alongside Chinese Taipei, Korea Republic, and the hosts, Uzbekistan, for the upcoming tournament, with eight teams set to feature at the 11th edition of the tournament.

The CommBank Young Matildas were seeded into Pot 3 alongside China PR, who they just took on in a two-match series in China, and will take on two-time champions, Korea Republic, the hosts Uzbekistan and Chinese Taipei, who return to the competition for the first time since 2009.

This will be Australia’s 10th appearance in the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup, with the best-ever finish coming back in 2006 when Australia finished in third place.

The top four teams at the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup™ Uzbekistan 2024 will qualify for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup 2024, which is slated to begin on August 31, 2024, in Colombia.
