The CommBank Young Socceroos have been crowned ASEAN U-19 Boys’ 2026 Champions, securing the title with a 2-0 win over Thailand U19s.
Alexander Garbowski (BK Häcken) and Beckham Baker (Melbourne City FC) found the back of the net in the Final at the North Sumatra Stadium on Saturday evening.
Former CommBank Socceroos attacker Richard Garcia took charge of the team, with Head Coach Trevor Morgan relocating to the USA to be part of the CommBank Socceroos’ FIFA World Cup 2026™ scouting team.
The CommBank Young Socceroos navigated the tournament with a series of strong performances to lift the trophy for the sixth time.
Australia showcased its offensive firepower early in the competition, with a comprehensive 10-0 victory against Philippines U19s in the Group Stage.
After a 2-2 draw against Cambodia in the Group Stage, Australia then secured a place in the Final with a dramatic 1-0 win over hosts Indonesia in the Semi Final, sealed by a stoppage-time goal from Marcus Neill (Sunderland A.F.C.).
Medin Memeti (Melbourne City FC) took home the Golden Boot, scoring five goals across the tournament.
The triumph marks an important milestone for Australia’s youth development pathway, with the focus now shifting towards the AFC U20 Asian Cup 2027 qualifiers in August and September 2026.
